Cynthia and Thomas (not real names) were homeless in Federal Way. Cynthia had just given birth to a new baby and was struggling with postpartum depression after becoming homeless. Due to being homeless and Cynthia’s depression, CPS became involved and the child was removed from their custody. Cynthia and Thomas were struggling to stay together and found themselves at the Federal Way Day Center. At the Center they used their time to look for employment, housing, and complete the counseling required by Child Protective Services. Thomas was able to find a job and the couple is now permanently housed and getting overnight visitations with their child and working toward permanent reunification.
